Moving 200+ clinics off a legacy desktop app

ClinicDr — since rebranded as ChiroSpring — is a cloud-based practice management platform used by more than 200 small and mid-sized clinics in the American healthcare industry. The UI had grown inconsistent across components, and the underlying application was a legacy Visual Basic multi-page app.
The migration
I migrated it into a single-page application using .NET MVC and Angular. Customer engagement improved by 40% afterwards — a legacy multi-page app in a clinical setting means a full page reload between every step of a workflow that someone repeats forty times a day.
The mobile app
I then built a mobile app from scratch with Ionic, used by both doctors and patients, covering appointment scheduling, patient history and more than 100 treatment plans. Two audiences with almost nothing in common sharing one codebase: a doctor between appointments optimising for speed, a patient using it perhaps twice a year and needing everything spelled out.
This was my first professional role, and where most of what I know about legacy migration came from.
